I haven’t been spending much time in the blogosphere these past few weeks, so I’m only now picking up on this thread: Shelfari spam: “basically social networking rapists.” Also, Shelfari’s “astroturfing.” I suggest folks interested in bookish social networking and cataloging sites check out these links.

I have never had any problems in my personal or professional dealings with Shelfari, so nothing that is mentioned about Shelfari spam has been my experience. I also don’t know anyone who has personally experienced this problem, but I don’t doubt that it’s a real and serious issue. If you’ve had a bad experience with Shelfari, please share in the comments. If not, please still share your thoughts. I know you’re all closet ethicists!
