You know how on some days, something can happen that makes all the days worth it? Well, that something happened today.

Out of the blue, I received a mysterious package. It looked like it came from Alderman Library at my alma mater, the University of Virginia. But I wasn’t expecting any packages, especially not one sent to Estonia. So I opened it up. And I saw this:

The note is from Karin Wittenborg, the head librarian of the University of Virginia library. It says:

Dear j k (if I may),

I recently ran across Fade Theory and enjoyed the piece about Harry Clemons at U.Va. At any rate, I regret that we didn’t meet when you were here. You may enjoy our last annual report.

Please let me know if your travels bring you to C’ville.

Karin

The small book, Imagining The Future: University of Virginia, State of the Library 2006, is the library’s annual report she refers to. And I am so enjoying it!

On that note, if anyone else would like to send me something, send me an email (theorist@fadetheory.com) or leave a comment, and I’ll give you my address. And I expect you’ll give me your address, too.
